NEW LONDON -- Keota lost its first game in the 2021 baseball postseason, 6-0 to Danville Monday.
The Eagles unceremoniously left the tournament without recording a hit in the game against Sawyer Nelson. Griffen Molle got the last two outs after Nelson reached his 110-pitch limit. Danville is 6-14 and plays New London Tuesday while Keota closes out with a 15-8 record.
The Eagles defense did not support their pitchers with eight errors committed in the game. Carson Sprouse threw four innings and allowed four runs, struck out seven with three walks and two hit batters.
Keota’s No. 24 Luke Hammen pitched the fifth inning and allowed three hits and a run. Colten Clarahan came to the mound with two batters already on in the sixth and pitched the last two innings with four strikeouts, hit two batters and walked two.
