Evans helps Mid-Prairie victory

RIVERSIDE - Mitzi Evans helped the Mid-Prairie girls win the Highland Co-Ed track meet Monday.
The Golden Hawk boys took second. Highland's girls were fifth and the boys were sixth. WACO's boys and girls each finished eighth.
Evans won the 800 meters for MP with a time of 2 minutes, 27.25 seconds to establish a new meet record, breaking Mid-Prairie's Mallory McArtor's record of 2:31.94 from 2013. Evans was also on the record-breaking 4x100 meter relay with Amber Swart, Maddie Edgington and Abbagail Evans. Their time of 51.13 bested a Mid-Prairie record from 2013 of 51.42. The same quartet won the sprint medley in 1:54.28, which broke a MP record from 2013 of 1:56.58.
Angelina Evans broke a record by Maddie Zahradnek, also of MP, in the 1500 but finished second in 5:13.55. The Mid-Prairie 4x1 relay of Amber Swart, Marie Hostetler set a new meet record in the 3000 of 11:33.41, which broke the meet standard of 11:59.87 set in 2014.
Kessa Jones of MP won the 400 hurdles in 1:11.16. Tori Boyse was second in the discus at 113 feet, 2 inches. Brittany Kinsinger was third in the high jump at 4-6. Swart, Cassidy Rourke, Edgington and Ab. Evans were second in the 4x2 in 1:51, which bettered the meet record. The 4x4 was third in 4:41.92 with Jones, Sarah Meader, Kate Cavanaugh and Kitty Conway. The distance medley of Colby Brown, Alyssa McDowell, Conway and Cavanaugh was third in 4:47.96. Jones, Sidney Davis, Meader and Jill Owen were third in the shuttle hurdle in 1:15.65. Rylee Vercande was third in the shot with a put of 32-1.5.
Highland's 4x2 was first with Sarah Schneider, Aly Stokes, Kristy Thomann and Emily Yahnke in 1:50.99 which broke a record from last year of 1:51.99. The same four finished second in the 4x1 in 53.38. Stokes took third in the 200 with a time of 28.01. Taylor Sublette was third in the 400 in 1:09.24. Yahnke was third in the long jump at 16-4. The 4x8 was second in 11:34.44 with Sublette, Fiona Mahler, Alyssa Clarke and Mdison Thomann.
WACO's shuttle hurdle relay team of Grace Conwell, Maggie Rinner, Laney Graber and Molly McLaughlin was the winner in 1:13.96, breaking Lone Tree's meet record from last year of 1:14.21. McLaughlin was second in the 100 hurdles in 17.88.
For the boys, Mid-Prairie's Clarke Latchem, Quinn Schmidt, Grant Boyse and Elmir Ganibegovic won the 4x2 in meet record time of 1:33.26, breaking a WACO record from 2014 of 1:35.83. The same four were second by a hundredth of a second in the 4x1 with a time of 45.56.
Jack Baker won the shot at 42-6 and the discus at 134-11. Ganibegovic won the 200 with a time of 23.05. Brad Tornow won the 800 in 2:07.61.
Miles Burrows was second in the 400 hurdles in 59.05. Boyse was third in the 100 at 12.0 and second in the 200 at 23.77. Thaddeus Shelter was third in the 1600 in 4:54.29. Burrows, Schmidt, Tornow and Latchem were second in the 4x4 in 3:37.48. The 4x8 was third in 8:52.64 with Justin Schwartz, Shelter, Jacob Nonnenmann and Jamison Stutzman. Caleb Thomas, Josh Wallington, Ganibegovic and Baker were third in the sprint medley in 1:41.22. Latchem, Justice Jones, Baker and Thomas took second in the shuttle in 1:12.44.
Highland's Bradley Rodgers was second in the shot with a put of 40-10.Zack Lasek was second in the discus at 132-3. The 4x2 was third in 1:37.64 with Mason McFarland, Kadin Jepson, Connor Grinstead and Trey Lasek.
WACO's Colton Horak was third in the 110 high hurdles at 16.1. Elijah McGowan was third in the 400 at 55.14.
