Fairfield 3rd in softball rankings
Trojans at 3-5 already have more losses than last season’s 24-2 record

The second softball rankings of the 2021 season were released Thursday by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.
Fairfield remained third in the Class 4A rankings despite being swept by EBF, ranked fifth in Class 3A. Burlington, a Southeast Conference member with Fairfield, dropped out of the 4A top 15 teams. The two teams split a pair of games Thursday and Fairfield lost two games Friday at Iowa City West — 7-5 Bettendorf, 14-0 Muscatine.
There are two South Iowa Cedar League teams, Lynnville-Sully and Sigourney, ranked in 1A.
There are six teams from the River Valley Conference in the rankings. The RVC has Wilton, Northeast, Iowa City Regina and Durant all ranked in 2A with Anamosa and West Liberty ranked in 3A.
Super Conference member Louisa-Muscatine fell out of the top spot in 2A while West Burlington/Notre Dame stayed level at No. 4 in 3A.
