Fairfield 4x100 runs at Drake

DES MOINES ? Fairfield?s all-senior team of Max Johnson, Braz Johnson, Zach Vivier and Corbin Harwood finished 53rd in the 4x100 of the Drake Relays.

Running in preliminary heat No. 5 out of 10 Friday afternoon, the foursome finished with a time of 45.15 seconds. Cedar Falls won the event in 42.17 seconds.

The Trojan team qualified the relay 40th with a season-best clocking of 44.38 seconds at Eddyville-Blakesburg?s Ike Ryan Relays April 19.

The event was the Fairfield boys? one event at the Drake Relays. Sydney Howard represented the girls? team with a 15th-place finish in the 100-meter dash.

The Fairfield boys? and girls? track teams will host the Brookhart-Crew Relays today before kicking off the postseason Thursday.

Pekin?s Sines competes

DES MOINES ? Pekin senior Bryce Sines placed 16th in the boys? high jump with a leap of 6-feet, 1-inch on Friday.

Sines previously set the fourth highest mark in the state with a jump of 6-feet, 6-inches.

Next up for Sines and the Panthers is the Southeast Iowa SuperConference meet Thursday.
