Fairfield baseball falls at Williamsburg
Trojans lose late lead in non-conference road game

WILLIAMSBURG — The Fairfield baseball team had a three-run lead in the final three innings on Monday night in Williamsburg, but the Trojans couldn’t hang on in a non-conference clash.
Williamsburg scored the last five runs of the game in a 6-4 defeat of the visiting Trojans.
Fairfield scored three runs in the top of the second to go up 3-0, and then led 4-1 in the middle of the fourth inning. Williamsburg plated one run in the fourth and four in the fifth to put the Trojans away.
Fairfield had three hits on the night. Tate Allen went 1-for-4 with an RBI, and both Dain Burkhart and Caden Allison had singles as well. Cody Birlson and Aidan Kreuter each knocked in a run.
Nate Conczal was on the mound for the Trojans for four innings, giving up six runs (four earned) on nine hits and two walks. He struck out two batters. Voss Richardson came in and threw two shutout innings in relief.
Fairfield fell to 6-9 overall with the loss.
