Fairfield baseball shut out by No. 2 Grinnell
Trojans have single hit against Class 3A power

GRINNELL — The Fairfield baseball team had a lot on its plate with a road trip to No. 2 Grinnell on Thursday. The Trojans were held to just one hit in a 10-0 five-inning loss.
Grinnell scored five runs in the first inning, one in the second, three in the fourth and one more in the fifth to end the game early.
Fairfield’s Nate Smithburg went 1-for-2 to lead the Trojan offense. Brody Angstead was 0-for-1 with a hit-by-pitch.
Nate Smithburg picked up the loss on the mound, giving up five runs (three earned) over one inning. Brad Smithburg and Nate Woodburn also pitched.
Fairfield is now 10-17 heading in to a home game against Knoxville on Monday night.
