FAIRFIELD — The Trojans made sure win number one was memorable in the Fairfield baseball team’s nonconference game against Oskaloosa on Tuesday night.
Fairfield walked off for their first win, sealing a 3-2 victory in the seventh when Evan Haines scored on an error off the bat of Dylan Hunter.
Haines led off the bottom of the seventh and was hit by the pitch. After moving over on a groundout by Cason Miller, he came around to score on an Oskaloosa miscue.
The Trojan offense collected five hits on the day. Miller and Nate Woodburn both finished 1-for-3 with a double. Khia Klehm went 1-for-1, and both Nate Smithburg and Brad Woodburn were 1-for-2.
Tate Allen pitched a gem to earn the win on the mound. Allen threw a complete game, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk, while striking out six batters.
Fairfield moved to 1-1 with the win.
