Fairfield, Mt. Pleasant and Washington baseball finished up the first week of their season last week.
The Trojans ended the week with a pair of wins over Davis County, 9-6 and 15-1.
Meanwhile, Washington was defeated by Muscatine 11-2 on Thursday and Solon 5-4 on Friday. Mt. Pleasant ended the week with a narrow loss to Muscatine, 10-9.
In the Trojans’ first win, Davis County held a 6-5 lead after the fourth inning, but Fairfield (5-0) went on to score two in both the sixth and seventh innings to put it away.
Cason Miller and Dain Burkhart both finished with two hits and three RBIs in the victory. Aiden Westercamp ended with one hit.
Voss Richardson, Landon Nodurft and Nate Konczal all pitched for Fairfield in the win.
In game two it was all Fairfield. The Trojans scored seven runs in the first inning and never looked back. Fairfield scored two more in the fourth and six more in the seventh to seal it.
Aidan Kreuter, Nate Konczal, Tallon Bates, Sam Weaton, Luke Konczal and Dain Burkhart all had two hits. Cason Miller and Bates each had two RBIs.
In Washington’s matchup with Muscatine, the Demons (1-2) trailed by just two, 3-1, after the first inning. After a scoreless second, things got out of hand as Muscatine scored two runs in each of the next four innings.
Aaron Boone, Caleb Zieglowsky and Luke Schiebel all had a hit for Washington. The two latter each had an RBI as well.
Luke Beenblossom and Blayze Richardson each threw for the Demons.
Against Solon on Friday, the two teams were tied heading into the final inning, 4-4, but it was the Spartans who would have the last laugh.
After a scoreless top of the seventh, Solon put one run on the board in the bottom of the inning for the walk-off win.
Caden Greiner, Luke Schiebel, Mason Morgan and Nate Edmonds all had one hit. Morgan and Caleb Zieglowsky finished with one RBI.
Brady Krantz and Conner Leyden were on the hill for the Demons.
Finally, Mt. Pleasant (3-2) came ever so close against Muscatine on Friday.
The Panthers were tied at 4-4 after three innings of action. Mt. Pleasant took a one-run lead into the bottom of the fifth, but Muscatine followed with five runs for its largest lead of the night, 9-5.
However, the Panthers didn’t give up. Mt. Pleasant followed with four runs of its own in the top half of the sixth to tie it.
But one run by the Muskies in the bottom of the sixth would prove to be the winner.
Zach Newton led the Panthers with three hits in the loss. Payton Walker and Carson Andreasen each had two hits. Andreasen had a team high three RBIs and Walker two.
Payton Hagans also had two RBIs with Cooper Coleman and Payson Coleman each ended with one.
Ben Newton and Payton Hagans were both on the mound for Mt. Pleasant in the win.
