Tuesday night was a tough one for both the Fairfield boys and girls basketball teams as they both suffered losses.
The Trojan boys came up short in what was a close one with Mid-Prairie on the road 68-59, while the girls suffered a 60-29 defeat to Knoxville at home.
In Mid-Prairie, the Trojans put up a great fight. Both teams put on an offensive clinic in the first period, with the Golden Hawks just edging the Trojans 20-18.
It stayed a nearly even game through the second as each squad scored 17s to keep it at a two point game at the half, 37-35.
The Trojans stayed within a possession for much of the third frame, but Golden Hawks created a bit of separation with a 17-14 period.
Heading into the fourth, the Golden Hawks held onto a 54-49 lead and they would never give it up.
Mid-Prairie closed with a 14-10 fourth to win it.
On the girls side of things, the Trojans trailed by just four, 15-11, after one quarter, but the Panthers only pulled away the rest of the way.
The Trojans were outscored 10-2 in the second and 35-16 in the second half.
