KEOKUK — The Keokuk basketball teams have been a stick in everyone’s side all year long, and nothing changed on Friday night when Fairfield came into town.
The visiting Trojans were vanquished by a pair of first-place teams, falling 67-20 in the girls’ game, and 76-39 in boys.
The Trojan girls were drowned by a hot-shooting night from Keokuk duo Kendra Boatman and Elizabeth Mason, who combined for 54 points, hitting 10 3-pointers between the two of them.
Fairfield trailed 14-4 after one quarter, 37-10 at halftime and 58-11 after three periods.
In the boys’ game, Keokuk rushed out to a 24-10 lead after one quarter and a 42-18 halftime advantage. The Chiefs won every quarter on the boys’ side, taking the third period 23-15, and the fourth, 11-6.
The Fairfield girls basketball team is now 3-13 overall and 1-7 in conference play. The boys are 2-13 and 1-7.
