?This is our single biggest event of the year, and it is an extremely important part of our overall efforts to generate funds to support the Fairfield Community School District athletic programs,? said booster club board member Chad Thompson.
The Fairfield Trojan Athletic Booster Club is a volunteer organizaton that has been in place for over 40 years with one clear goal ? help create and enhance the opportunities that student-athletes at Fairfield experience. Studies have shown that involvement in extra-curricular activities ? whether it is athletics, music, or drama ? have a positive relationship with student academic performance.
The booster club also operates the concession stands at the high school and middle school fields for the fall, spring and summer sport. While the organization always appreciates those that do volunteer to help with our concessions operations, they are always in search of additional people to become more involved in the group?s planning, preparation and implementation of the mission. In addition to monetary support, individuals can also volunteer time for the efforts of the group.
The school?s athletic budge is primarily used for coach?s salaries, mandatory safety equipment and travel related expenses. Costs related to uniforms, other equipment and supplies, facility improvements the hiring of officials are primarily funded by gate receipts and admission at Trojan athletic events and the support of the Fairfield Trojan Athletic Boosters.
?We certainly recognize that these are difficult economic times, and the household budget continues to be stretched. But our community has always shown a great deal of support for our athletic programs, and we, as well as the coaches and athletes, are grateful for that,? Thompson said.
