Fairfield bowling splits boy/girl doubleheader

The Fairfield bowling teams hosted Mt. Pleasant in a Southeast Conference showdown at Flamingo Lanes Dec. 15 with the boys defeating their Panther counterparts 2654-2454, while the girls fell short of a comeback in a 1910-1856.

Fairfield outscored Mt. Pleasant 1739-1621 in the first round, led by senior Shane Morrissey who threw a 206 in game one, followed by a 187 for a 393 series for the Trojans. Fairfield then compiled another 915 pins in the Baker round with highs of 193 in the first and fifth games.

Fairfield trailed by just 28 pins after round one, but couldn't quite pull off a comeback with Mt. Pleasant extending their lead by 26 pins during the round two Baker games.
'Even though the varsity girls lost their match, they had an impressive score including 10 of 12 games in round one at or above practice average,” explained head coach Lisa Greenig. 'This was their highest round one score and highest match total this year, and the girls continue to show improvement.”
