Fairfield boys downed in Iowa City

IOWA CITY — The Fairfield boys basketball team came up short at Class 4A’s Iowa City High on Tuesday night despite a promising first half.
Fairfield was within three points at halftime, but the Little Hawks won the second half 43-20 to put away the Trojans 72-46.
Max Weaton ended the night with 18 points and nine rebounds. JJ Lane scored seven points and dished out six assists. Tate Allen scored seven. Evan Haines had three, and the trio of Ryan Higgins, Joey Valdez and Hunter Cecchini finished with two each.
Fairfield is now 9-11 heading into its final regular season game at Knoxville (5-15) on Thursday night.
