Fairfield boys edge Burlington by one set
Trojans break tie with Grayhounds on pair of doubles wins

FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield boys tennis team stayed poised on Tuesday night against Burlington.
After tying through the first six singles matches, the Trojans picked up a pair of victories in the doubles matches to win it 5-4.
Winners for the Trojans in singles included Jace Hannes, Rylan Anderson and Niko Emerson.
Hannes picked up a victory in his number two match with big wins of 6-3 and 6-4 over the Grayhound’s Carson Ziegler.
Rylan Anderson didn’t give up a single set in his No. 5 match. Anderson won 6-0 in each of his two sets.
Emerson took the 1-0 win in the No. 6 match.
On the contrary, Garrett Flanagan lost a tough match in the No. 1 bout to Burlington’s Hunter Ford 6-2, 3-6 (6-10).
Dil Hurlin came up short in the No. 3 contest to Thomas Fell 6-2 and 7-5.
Ethan Cass put up a good fight, but lost 6-3 and 6-4 in the No. 4 contest.
In doubles, the Trojans delivered the win.
Flanagan and Hannes downed Ford and Ziegler 6-0 and 6-3 to put the Trojans up one.
Cass and Anderson lost a tightly contest match 6-7 (4-7) and 6-3 (12-10).
Hurlin and Emerson grabbed the winner with a 1-0 forfeit.
Fairfield moves back above .500 with the win at 4-3. That’s four straight wins for Fairfield as well.
They will take on Maharishi on Thursday at the Punj Tennis Center.
