FAIRFIELD - A six-goal second half from the visiting Fort Madison Bloodhounds spelled doom for the Fairfield boys soccer team on Thursday night. The defending Southeast Conference champions came into Fairfield and beat the Trojans 8-1.
The game was a rematch of a pair of games that helped decide the SEC last year. Fort Madison swept Fairfield in 2021, and the Trojans had to settle for a tie for second place.
The lone Trojan goal went to Andrew Twohill, who tied the game up in the first half after the Trojans went up 1-0. Fort Madison would close the game on a 7-0 run.
Fairfield is now 0-2 on the season. The Trojans will try to scoop up their first win on Monday as they visit Burlington.
