The Fairfield girls? tennis team tallied another win ? its second straight ? Thursday evening against Davis County, who had to play without their No. 2 player, with a final 7-2 score.
Megan Proctor and Serena Ward both blanked their opponents in singles winning 8-0 for the Trojans as Olivia Bachar (8-1), Whitney Taglauer (8-3) and Liza Pergiel (9-8 (7-6)) also won their singles match. It was the first varsity win of the season for Pergiel at No. 6 singles. Courtney Kerr also went the distance before losing a 7-5 tiebreaker at No. 5 singles.
In doubles, Fairfield continued their domination taking two of the three matches including Bachar and Proctor?s 8-1 victory over Whitney Thompson and Hannah Altheide. Ward and Kerr won an 8-5 match at No. 3 doubles, and Davis County?s Courtney Emery and Tina Jones squeaked by Taglauer and Pergiel with an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles.
With a two match winning steak, Fairfield will be back on the court Saturday in Burlington for the Grayhound Invitational.
Boys: Davis County 6, Fairfield 3
BLOOMFIELD ? Justin Bradfield won his third straight singles match, but Fairfield dropped a 6-3 match on the road to Davis County on Thursday.
Bradfield squeaked past Tucker Henderson with a 9-7 score, but, depending on whether they play singles or doubles, Henderson may get another crack at Bradfield at Saturday?s Pioneer Invite hosted by Maharishi School. Bradfield coupled his singles win with a victory at No. 1 doubles paired up with Nathan Hurley. The duo once again beat Henderson and his partner Brad Bish by a 9-7 score.
