Fairfield boys lead area in Moravia
Mt. Pleasant’s Matheney shoots 36 to lead Union golfers

MORAVIA — Three area boys golf teams were in Moravia on Thursday at the Mohawks’ home invite. The Trojans had the best score of the three teams, shooting 330 for seventh place overall.
Fairfield’s Max Weaton had a big day, shooting 38 on his front nine and a 40 on his back nine to end up at 78. Dev Eisner wasn’t too far behind him, with an 81.
Sam Weaton shot an 85 for the third Trojan score. Austin Lisk shot an 86, and Nile Christensen shot a 99.
Of all the Union area golfers, nobody had a better day than Mt. Pleasant’s Nick Matheney. Matheney shot a 37 on the front nine and a 39 on the back nine to end the tournament with a 76. That helped the Panthers take 11th overall with a 352.
Mt. Pleasant’s Nate Dismang shot 82. Reece Coffman finished at 86. Ben Meador shot 108, and Izaac Zihlman finished at 111.
Van Buren County ended the meet at 356, taking 14th as a team. Leading the way for the Warriors was Riley Bruckman, who shot 41 on the front nine and 39 on the back nine to finish at 80.
TJ Jirank shot 88 for the Warriors. Aiden McEntee finished at 92. Anthony Duncan shot 96, and Dylan Richardson ended at 98.
