Fairfield boys pick up first tennis win of young season
BURLINGTON ? The Fairfield boys? tennis team opened up the 2010 campaign with a 7-2 thrashing of Burlington-Notre Dame Monday evening.
The Trojans won five of six singles matches including Kyle Brewington?s tie-breaker victory at No. 2. Will Gaub (10-1), Josh Cooper (10-5), Mitch Dorothy (10-1) and Kevin Thorn (10-2) all racked up easy wins for Fairfield.

BURLINGTON ? The Fairfield boys? tennis team opened up the 2010 campaign with a 7-2 thrashing of Burlington-Notre Dame Monday evening.
The Trojans won five of six singles matches including Kyle Brewington?s tie-breaker victory at No. 2. Will Gaub (10-1), Josh Cooper (10-5), Mitch Dorothy (10-1) and Kevin Thorn (10-2) all racked up easy wins for Fairfield.
Ryan Brewington suffered the only singles loss for the Trojans losing a tough 11-9 match to James Hong in the No. 1 slot.
Gaub and Thorn picked up another victory with a 10-3 doubles win. Tommy Price and Evan Davis stepped into to deliver a 10-0 pasting in the No. 3 doubles match.
The Brewington brothers fell short, 10-6, in the No. 1 doubles match to give Notre Dame its second victory of the match.
With a 1-0 record, the Trojans are back in action tonight against Southeast Conference foe Keokuk on the road.
