PELLA ? Corbin Harwood grabbed two top-10 finishes while Dillon Fry and Jonny Swanson added another pair of top places for Fairfield at the Central Indoor in Pella Friday.
Harwood, a senior, finished third in the high jump with a leap of 6-feet and came in sixth in the 55-meter hurdles with a clocking of 8.04 seconds.
?He picked up where he left off last season in the high jump and then he looked really good in the high hurdles,? said Fairfield coach Brian Dunlap. ?That?s kind of what we expect from Harwood, and he should do these things all season.?
Juniors Fry and Swanson were fourth and eighth, respectively, in the 400-meter dash. Fry crossed the line in 53.88 seconds and Swanson was a little more than a second behind at 55.29 seconds. Swanson also made the finals cut in the 55-meter hurdles alongside Harwood, finishing 12th with a time of 8.34 seconds.
The team of Alex Love, Vince Horras, Riley Hammel and Jordan Whitney placed in the top five in the 4x800. The quartet shaved more than five seconds off their season-best to finish fourth in 9:06.06.
?Those kids in the 4x8 are looking good, and the nice thing is they?re underclassmen,? said Dunlap. ?It?s early, but those four kids are obviously showing they want to run it.?
Fairfield senior Max Johnson posted a top-15 time in the 55-meter dash preliminaries against 225 other runners. Johnson then ran a 6.70 in the finals to grab 15th place. Other top Trojans in the 55-meter dash were Braz Johnson in 21st (6.70), Blake Wright in 35th (6.79) and Dillon Fry finishing 47th (6.90).
Junior Jake Mineart recorded a best throw of 41-feet, 4-inches for 16th place in the shot put.
The outdoor season is next for the Trojans, who are set to compete at Washington Thursday.
