The 16th-ranked Fairfield boys soccer team took a two-game road trip on Thursday and Friday to play at Centerville and Oskaloosa respectively. The Trojans shut down the Big Reds 4-0 on Thursday but took a tough 2-1 shootout loss at Oskaloosa.
On Thursday in Centerville, Fairfield scored all four goals in the first half. Three of those came from Xavier Kapijimpanga.
Christian Bowman had the only other goal for Fairfield. The team’s lone assist came from Dagan Burnett.

Friday’s game at Oskaloosa was scoreless after the first half. Both teams scored one goal in the second half, with Fairfield’s coming from Blake Jarmosco.
After a couple of scoreless overtime periods, The Trojans and Indians went into a shootout. Oskaloosa won the shootout 4-2 to escape with a win.
Fairfield finished the season 9-4 overall and 7-3 in conference play. They will host Washington (9-4, 7-3) in the first round of the Class 2A Substate 5 tournament on Thursday at 5 p.m.
