Fairfield boys take home meet
Trojan track team sprints to victory, upends local squads

FAIRFIELD — It was a great day on the track for the Fairfield boys track and field team. The Trojans won five events, all in running events, and scored 135 points to win their home relays.
The Trojans finished 12 points above Oskaloosa for the team title. Fort Madison took third with 107 points. Van Buren County was fourth, with 99. Pekin took fifth, with 73, and both Central Lee and Keokuk scored 26.
Fairfield’s River Patterson was a double winner on the day. Patterson took first in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 22.69 seconds. He also won the 400-meter dash, crossing in 51.22 seconds.
The Trojans swept the three sprints. Aiden Lyons took the 100-meter dash in 11.82 seconds to give Fairfield another victory.
The Trojans also swept the long distance races. Kaidyn Mickels took first in the 1600-meter run, crossing the tape in 4:53.04. Dayton Mauck won the 3200, crossing in 11:36.38.
Pekin had two winners on the day. The distance medley squad of Sven Dahlstrom, Luke Long, Jaedon Wolver and Zack Wise picked up a victory, hitting the line at 3:57.22. Kevin Linn won the discus throw, hurling it 121 feet.
Van Buren County’s only winner came in the high jump. Tyler Stoltz took down the competition, jumping 6-02 to give the Warriors their lone first-place finish.
