Fairfield boys tennis falters

BURLINGTON — Fairfield’s Southeast Conference boys tennis showdown didn’t go the way the Trojans had planned on Tuesday night. Fairfield fell 6-3 to the hosting Burlington Grayhounds.
The Trojans took two of the six singles games. Jeremy Goodale won his No. 2 match, taking sets 6-3 and 6-6 (10-5). Garrett Flanagan took the No. 6 match, winning sets 6-1 and 6-1.
Blake Holden lost a tough No. 1 match 7-5, 7-5. No. 3 Brecken Courtright fell 6-1, 6-1. Tristan Paton fell in the No. 4 match, losing 6-3, 6-3. Cameron Harvey fell 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 5 match.
The Trojans won just one doubles match. Courtright and Paton won a three-set thriller in the No. 2 match, taking it 6-1, 3-6, 10-8.
Holden and Goodale lost the No. 1 doubles match 6-2, 6-4. Mercer and Carlson fell 8-4 in the No. 3 match.
