It’s hard enough to face this year’s Pella boys basketball team, but Fairfield caught them on a hot shooting night to boot.
The Little Dutch nailed 11 3-pointers at Fairfield High School on Tuesday night as they knocked off Fairfield 92-72 in nonconference play.
The two teams traded punches early in the game but it was Pella that took the early advantage, and the Little Dutch never let up. Pella held a 30-22 lead after one quarter and pulled ahead 54-40 at halftime.
Fairfield scrapped back to cut the deficit to 10 points in the third quarter, but the Trojans could never get it any lower than that. Pella led 71-54 after three quarters and continued to cruise in the fourth.
The Little Dutch hit 56.1% of their shots and finished the night shooting 47.8% from downtown.
Max Weaton scored 27 points to lead Fairfield. JJ Lane had 13. Tate Allen scored 11, and Evan Haines had 10.
