FAIRFIELD — Fairfield suffered its second straight loss to start the season on Thursday night with a loss to Albia.
The Blue Demons defeated the Trojans 60-28, in what was a tough scoring night for Fairfield.
The scoring woes started early as, Fairfield scored just two points in the first quarter off a midrange jumper from Andrew Myers. In all, the Trojans eclipsed single digit points just once through four quarters.
Albia didn’t make it easy on the Fairfield defense either. Although the Blue Demons were held to just 13 points in the first quarter, they never scored less the rest of the way.
The 18 points scored by Albia in the second were the most of the night by either team as Fairfield found itself down 31-10 at the break.
Despite scoring a team high 12 in the third, Fairfield could never get back into it as Albia stay one step ahead.
The Blue Demons went on to outscored the Trojans 29-18 through the second half.
With the loss, Fairfield moves to 0-2 in the early season.
