Fairfield Cougars team tryouts this Sunday

The Fairfield Cougars 2014 USSSA baseball team is holding tryouts at the Fairfield Little League complex on Sunday.

Youngsters who were born between May 1, 2000, and April 30, 2004, need to check-in at 1 p.m. The tryouts will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Those born between May 1, 2004, and April 30, 2007, need to check-in at 2:30 p.m. The tryouts will start at 3 p.m. These kids will be on the 8-and-under and 9-and-under teams.

If there were to be rain, the rain date is Sep. 14. The check-in and tryouts time remain the same.

The coaches intend on having at least one team for each age between six and 12. Players will be notified of the tryout results by Sep. 30.

Tryouts will consist of hitting, pitching, infield and outfield stations.

The program is open to players participating in the Fairfield, Libertyville and Lockridge little league programs. Players and families should plan for three to five weekends of travel during April, May and June.

Uniforms, entry fees and team costs are projected to be $225 per player. Sponsors and fundraisers could wind up helping families with the overall costs.
