The 2022 Fairfield cross-country teams finished second and fifth respectively, as the Trojan girls took second at the annual Southeast Conference meet, and the Fairfield boys were fifth.
Fairfield’s girls’ team did finish a full 31 points behind SEC champion Washington. The boys were 71 points back of the Demons, who swept the races.
All 10 of the SEC girls Top-10 runners are eligible to come back this year. That includes Fairfield senior Carley Seeley, who took sixth in the SEC meet last year, and senior Malena Bloomquist, who took seventh.
The Trojans had just one senior on the roster last season on the girls’ side. The potential returners also include junior Paige Bisgard and sophomores Alyvia Abbott, Bailey Belzer and Caroline Van Pelt.
On the boys’ s side, the Trojans lose a couple of seniors, but Ben Boatright and Nate Konczal enter their senior year. Eligible junior returners include Dayton Mauck, Riley Perkens and Gabe Tejada. Now sophomore Clae Cass was the only freshman listed on the 2022 roster.
