The Fairfield boys basketball team fell in its final regular season matchup. The Trojans struggled in the final three quarters and couldn’t slow down Clear Creek Amana in a 72-36 loss Tuesday.

The Trojans only trailed by nine after the first quarter but couldn’t cut into that deficit in the second. Clear Creek Amana held Fairfield to just six points in the final 5:20 of the period.
Rowan Kness and Xavier Kessel combined for four of the Trojans seven made 3-point attempts. Kessel finished with six points, while Kness led Fairfield off the bench with 10, along with one rebound and a pair of steals.
Ethan Bisgard was limited to just 1 of 6 from the field, while Andrew Myers shot 1 of 9. The pair finished with four and two points, respectively. Fellow starters Nolan Smith and Spencer McCready each scored two. McCready grabbed a team-high five rebounds and had a steal and a block.
Up next for Fairfield is the Class 3A Substate 5 playoffs. The Trojans were given the No. 8 seed and will face off against No. 1 seed Pella on Monday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at Pella High School.
