Fairfield bounced back from a loss to the Panthers last month with a great defensive effort to hold Mount Pleasant off the scoreboard and escape with a 1-0 win. With the defense playing the way they were, Pasha Bousquet provided all the offense the Trojans needed with the lone goal of the game off a Deep Shrestha assist.
?Instead of the 4-1-4-1 lineup we?ve used most of the season, we came out in a 4-4-2 line up and the defense, led by Pranav Sharma did a great job,? said Fairfield head coach Roeland Hekker.
The win marks Fairfield?s second conference win of the season and both have come on their home turf. The Trojans hope for a similar result in their next game when conference heavyweight Keokuk comes calling.
Mount Pleasant flipped the score and won the JV game by a final tally of 1-0.
