Trojan tennis team sweeps Bloodhounds in opening matches

FAIRFIELD — It was all Trojans when the Fairfield tennis teams took on Fort Madison on Thursday in Southeast Conference play. The Bloodhounds were unable to take a win in either boys or girls tennis.
In Fairfield, the Trojan boys smashed the Hounds 9-0. The Fairfield girls won by the same mark in Fort Madison.
Fairfield dropped just four points in any of the singles matches on the boys’ courts. That included sweeps from the Top-2, as Ruimin Luo won 6-0 and 6-0 in the No. 1 match, and Han Wang won 6-0 and 6-0 in the No. 2 match.
Bowen Zhang took the No. 3 match 6-1, 6-0. Ethan Cass won the No. 4 match 6-1, 6-2. Niko Emerson swept 6-0 and 6-0 at No. 5, and Chase Johnson won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
In doubles, Luo and Cass rolled in the No. 1 match, winning 6-2 and 6-1. Zhang and Emerson took the No. 2 match 6-1 and 6-3. Johnson and Rocky Galusha won the No. 3 match 6-0 and 6-0.
In Fort Madison, Fairfield went perfect in the first four singles matches. Poojita Mukadam won the No. 1 match 8-0. Natalie Steele took the No. 2 match 8-0. Sriya Yammanur won 8-0 at No. 3, and Emma Wendland won 8-0 at No. 4.
Mareyn Dunkin won the No. 5 match 8-2 for the Trojans. Faith Jones made it a singles sweep by winning the No. 6 match 8-1.
In doubles, Mukadam and Steele rolled 8-1 in the No. 1 match. Yammanur and Wendland pulled out the No. 2 doubles match 8-0, and Dunkin and Jones swept the No. 3 doubles match 8-0.
