FAIRFIELD — Fairfield finished last week off on a high note as the Trojans downed Southeast Conference foe Washington in a nail bitter 23-20.
This week the Trojans (2-1) are back at it again against another SEC opponent, the Chiefs of Keokuk (1-2).
Fairfield has defeated Keokuk in its last two meetings and will look to make it three on Friday night at home.
Last seasons’ matchup came right down to the wire as the Trojans were able to top the Chiefs by just one 16-15.
Fairfield could very well be 3-0 on the season if not for a narrow defeat by the likes of Fort Madison, 21-14.
Keokuk comes in off back-to-back losses to Burlington 18-13 and Pella 31-17.
Fairfield hasn’t thrown much this season, but Landon Nodurft leads with 75 passing yards.
Sam Weaton took over under center last week against Washington.
In the ground game, Cason Miller has 484 yards with five touchdowns. Wyatt Johnson follows with 269 yards.
In the receiving column, Weaton leads with two catches. Tallon Bates has 31 yards receiving and Lucas Konczal has 25 yards.
Defensively, Weaton leads with 14.5 tackles. Caden Allison follows with 12.5.
Bates also has four interceptions on the season.
For Keokuk, Brenton Hoard has thrown for 480 yards and five touchdowns. He’s also ran for 333 yards and one score as well.
Leading the Chiefs in receiving is Drew Campbell with 130 yards and two touchdowns. Diego Garcia has seven catches for 112 yards and three scores as well.
On the defensive side of the ball, Mason Claus has 28 total tackles to lead the Chiefs.
