Fairfield freshman, JV volleyball teams topple Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT ? The Fairfield junior varsity and freshman volleyball teams claimed a pair of victories Thursday, winning four of five matches vs. Mount Pleasant.

The Fairfield JV team topped the Panthers in three games by scores of 25-22, 24-26 and 15-11.

Karley Williams and Keri Schwarz led on offense with four kills apiece. Brooke Stever and Madison Roberts put down three kills each, and Williams and Roberts each recorded three aces. Defensively, Roberts, Alexis Ring and Valerie Payne had seven digs apiece, and Ring also tallied six assists.

The ninth-graders served their way to a quick 25-19, 25-21 win.

Alli Deao had seven of the Trojans? 13 aces on the evening, and she also recorded eight digs and two kills. Sheridan Nye and Emma Kuehl tallied three aces each.

Other stat leaders were Delanie Neil with three kills and Kelsey Roberts with six assists. Mackenzi Harwood came up with seven digs, and Sheridan Nye and Roberts had six digs apiece.

The JV squad will host its triangular and the ninth-graders will host their quadrangular Sept. 10.
