A second half drought spanning the final two quarters thwarted the Fairfield freshman boys? team in its 39-26 loss to Fort Madison Thursday in Fairfield.
Fairfield played right with the visitors through the first two quarters and trailed only 18-16 at the half. But the Trojans came out flat in the second half, as they managed just three points in the third and seven more in the final period. The Bloodhounds quickly turned a 22-19 lead into a 33-19 advantage midway through the final period.
The Trojans were led by Alex Crile?s eight points and Nathan Davidson?s six. Trevor Drish netted five.
The 3-4 Trojans will be looking to even up their record Thursday when they travel to Eddyville-Blakesburg.
