Fairfield freshmen win volleyball tournament

The Fairfield freshman volleyball team continued its Saturday success with a tournament win last weekend in Centerville.

Fairfield beat Davis County 21-4, 21-14 and Centerville 21-10, 21-3 before sweeping Kirksville in the finals.

Madison Roberts had another huge day in the back row with 19 aces on 33-of-33 serving. Roberts also led the team with 18 kills.

Karley Williams recorded 13 aces, nine kills and 12 digs; Jolea Burkhart had five aces and nine digs; Hannah Morgan tallied four aces; and Sabryna Gilmore had one kill.

Also in the winning effort, Alexis Ring fed the offense with 24 assists. Roberts had two blocks and Carrigan Haile had one.

The freshman volleyball team will travel to Keokuk Tuesday before concluding the season at home vs. Fort Madison Thursday.
