Fairfield gets No. 1 Williamsburg
Trojans set to battle Raiders in 3A District 5 matchup

FAIRFIELD — Fairfield football faces arguably its toughest test of the season on Friday night as the Trojans will play host to the No. 1 team in Class 3A in the Raiders of Williamsburg.
The Trojans (2-3) are now in their toughest slate of games as they squared off with Benton last week, which ended in a Trojans loss 38-0. The Wildcats are one spot out of the top 10 rankings this week.
After taking on South Tama next week the Trojans will get No. 7 Solon.
Williamsburg (5-0) meanwhile hasn’t missed a beat so far this season sitting with an unbeaten record, which includes a victory over 2022 state champion Cedar Rapids Xavier.
The Raiders come into this one off a dominant 61-6 victory over South Tama.
Fairfield is looking to end a two-game slide against the top rated Raiders.
Coming in, senior Sam Weaton leads at quarterback.
Weaton has throws just 29 times for 69 yards and one touchdown.
On the ground, junior Cason Miller has rushed for 724 yards and six touchdowns. Wyatt Johnson also has 308 yards rushing.
Lucas Konczal has notched two rushing touchdowns and Weaton has one.
On the receiving end, Miller has a team-high three catches with 22 yards. Tallon Bates has the most yards with 31 on one catch.
Landon Nodurft has the lone Trojans receiving touchdown, along with two catches for 24 yards.
Weaton, Bode Hoskins, Dylan Adam and Konczal all have receptions as well.
Defensively, Weaton leads the way with 21.5 tackles.
Hoskins, Konczal and Caden Allison all have 17 tackles. Allison also has two tackles for a loss.
For Williamsburg, Kellen Cockrell has thrown for 846 yards and 19 touchdowns at quarterback.
In the run game, Nile Sinn has rushed for 351 yards and three touchdowns.
The Raiders leading receiver is Braylon Wetjen who has 14 receptions for 318 yards and eight touchdowns.
Derek Weisskopf and Clayten Steckly both have over 10 catches as well.
On defense, Rayce Heitman has 38 total tackles with 5.5 tackles for a loss. Weisskopf follows with 20.5 tackles.
The Trojans and Raiders are set to play at 7 p.m. on Friday night.
