Fairfield girls bounce back, blank Washington
The Fairfield girls? soccer team blanked Washington Monday night with a 5-0 victory ? its second shutout win against the Demons this season.
Cleuzia Navesse led the Trojans with three goals as Jessica Cay and Serena Ward also found the back of the net. Cay also had an assist along with Brittany Winslow.
?The defense was pretty solid today and that really opened up the game for us,? said head coach Felisto Guezimane.

?The defense was pretty solid today and that really opened up the game for us,? said head coach Felisto Guezimane. ?I used a different formation in the midfield and that allowed us to close Washington?s attacking lanes and created more fluidity to our game. Our goal keeper barely had to be involved in any action and that shows our mids and defensive lines worked well.?
In JV action, Bea Runyan and Julyn Beeman scored for Fairfield, but the game ended in a 2-2 tie.
Now Fairfield hopes to take momentum from this contest and rebound from last week?s 8-0 loss to Keokuk with a road trip to take on the Chiefs next Monday.
