The long roughs at Fairfield Golf and Country Club made play a little tough on the Fairfield girls? golf team against Ottumwa Monday, but they had better get used to the length with the conference tournament, which began at nine o?clock this morning taking place on the same course.
Ottumwa came away with a 194-218 victory over the Trojans led by meet medalist Miranda Goodman and her round of 46. Jackie Osby led Fairfield for the first time this season with a final tally of 52 followed by 54 from Sami Herman and 56 strokes apiece by Allison Delker and Chelsea Herman.
With the most of the regular season now in the books, the Trojans? focus turns to tournament play and Tuesday?s conference tournament. Fairfield faces another match with Ottumwa on Thursday before the road to the state tournament begins next Monday at the district tournament.
Southeast Conference results for the girls, as well as the boys, will be in Wednesday?s Ledger.
