Fairfield girls basketball lost back-to-back Southeast Conference games on Thursday and Friday.
The Trojans face the two top teams in the SEC in Fort Madison and Keokuk. Both nights were tough offensively for the Trojans as they were held to less than 10 in seven of the eight quarters played, falling to Fort Madison 47-21 and Keokuk 74-27.
Against Fort Madison, the Trojans played some stellar defense to start.
Fairfield held the Bloodhounds to just four points in the first frame, but they scored just two themselves, which came at the buzzer off a Savannah Hollander layup.
From then on out it was all Fort Madison.
The Trojans sole bucket in the second quarter came off a three from Faith Jones two and a half minutes into the period.
Meanwhile, Fort Madison dropped in 15 points themselves to make it 19-5 at the half. The Bloodhound carried that momentum into the second half, pouring in a game high 24 points in the third period to the Trojans eight.
Heading into the fourth, Fairfield found itself down 43-13. The Trojans took the fourth 8-4, but it was too little too late.
While the offense struggled early on against Fort Madison, Fairfield had it going early in the matchup with the Chiefs.
After one quarter, the Trojans trailed the Chiefs by just two, 15-13. The following eight minutes changed the course of the game.
Keokuk amassed 31 points, a game high, in the second period, while holding Fairfield to a low of four. The offensive struggles continued into the third and fourth as the Chiefs outscored the Trojans 28-10 through the final two frames.
With the two losses, Fairfield drops to 0-9 in SEC play and 2-13 overall.
