Fairfield girls end week with pair of losses
Trojans fall to Burlington, Davis County on Friday and Saturday

FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield girls basketball team suffered a pair of losses between Friday and Saturday.
The Trojans were defeated in a Southeast Conference game on Friday 63-48 to Burlington and then suffered a one point loss to Davis County 40-39 on Saturday.
Against Burlington, the Trojans found themselves down 19-8 after the first quarter. That was Fairfield worst scoring quarter of the evening and Burlington’s best.
Burlington never let Fairfield get close. The Trojans were outscored 17-11 in both the second and third periods to make it 53-30 going into the final frame.
Fairfield outscored Burlington 18-10 in the final quarter, but the deficit was too great to overcome.
Faith Jones finished with 13 points and six assists for the Trojans. Grace Lyon added 12 points and Natalie Steele had seven points and seven rebounds.
Against Davis County, the Trojans won the first half scoring battle 20-19. Davis County outscored Fairfield just 8-6 in the third quarter, but it ended up being the difference.
Both teams scored 13 a piece in the fourth frame as the Mustangs squeaked out the win.
Emma Metcalf finished with 14 points for Fairfield. Natalie Steele and Grace Lyon both added eight.
With the losses, Fairfield drops to 0-9 on the season and 0-4 in SEC play.
