KEOKUK — It’s not easy winning a girls basketball game in Keokuk, and the Fairfield Trojans were reminded of that on Tuesday night.
The Trojans came into the game off an exciting road win over Burlington, but they couldn’t make it two-in-a-row as the first-place Chiefs pulled out a 67-25 victory.
It was Keokuk’s second-straight conference win, and one that kept the Chiefs even with Mt. Pleasant and Fort Madison atop the league.
Savannah Hollander led Fairfield with 11 points in the loss. Grace Lyon and Maddie Jones scored five apiece. Addison Ferrel chipped in three points, and Ashlyn Lisk scored one.
Keokuk freshman Kendra Boatman scored 18 points to lead the Chiefs.
Fairfield is now 1-7 overall and 1-3 in Southeast Conference play. They will return home to play Centerville on Jan. 2.
