FT. MADISON — The Fairfield girls basketball team had a tough task on Friday night, facing one of the conference favorites on the road, but the Trojans did play Ft. Madison tight through three quarters at the Hound Dome.
Ft. Madison won the first three quarters by four points or fewer before shutting the Trojans down in the fourth for a 47-30 victory that opened up conference play.
Fairfield trailed just 10-7 after one quarter, 25-18 at halftime and 37-27 after three.
In the fourth, Ft. Madison kept the Trojans to just three total points, as the Bloodhounds ran away with the win to kick off the SEC schedule.
The Trojan girls are now 1-3 overall and 0-1 in SEC play. They’ll host Ottumwa (0-2) on Tuesday night.
