Fairfield girls golf top Hawk Invitational
Trojan’s Welsh leads individual’s with medalist honors

KALONA — The Fairfield girls golf team picked up a huge win on Thursday night, topping the 10 team field at the Hawk Invitational.
Along with the team victory, the Trojans also finished with medalist honors as well.
Fairfield edged second-place Williamsburg by three strokes, carding a low of 394.
Host Mid-Prairie finished fourth with a score of 400.
West Branch, Tipton, Keokuk, Wilton, Durant, West Liberty and Regina Catholic golfed as well.
Viola Welsh led the Trojans with a competition low of 88. That was good enough to put Welsh at the top of the leaderboard.
Myah Twohill followed with a tie in sixth after shooting a 98. Sara Kretz finished with a 101, good enough for ninth.
Macy Rayburn shot a 107 in the competition. Maggie Rayburn tallied a 109 and Kate Pettit ended with a 121.
For Mid-Prairie, Madi Davidson shot a 96. That finish tied her for third in the invitational.
Alexa Huber golfed a 101 for the Golden Hawks. Elliot Debler and Addison English tied one another with a score of 104.
Kylie Reinier followed with a final of 106 and Gabi Robertson shot a 108 to round out the Golden Hawks.
By the release of this article, Fairfield will have competed in the Burlington Golf Meet. The Trojans will then be back in action on Thursday with their home triangular against Pella and Keokuk.
After a head-to-head with Wilton on Monday, Mid-Prairie will take on West Liberty and West Branch next Monday.
