The Trojans? defense frustrated Chariton all night. Fairfield amassed 12 deflected passes and made it a point to get into passing lanes. The main cog in Fairfield?s defense was senior center Hanna Greiner. She blocked 12 shots and grabbed eight rebounds. She was also important on the offensive end, scoring eight points.
Mackenzie Flattery and Sami Fritz, who finished with 10 and nine points, respectively, led Fairfield offensively. Senior Marisa Repp had a solid game, finishing with eight points, four rebounds and three steals.
?A two-game road winning streak is really good for us as we go into our last road conference game at Fort Madison,? Fairfield coach Mick Flattery said.
Winning road games at the end of the year is exactly what brought Fairfield within one game of going to state last season. Last season?s two road playoffs wins were not preceded by very many road victories, which speaks to what this year?s team is capable of if it can get hot.
One more Southeast Conference road game (Fort Madison), which is the last game of the regular season, awaits the Trojans. After that, Fairfield travels to Washington to play the Demons Wednesday to open the playoffs. Hopefully Trojan fans like to travel, because Fairfield won?t be at home the rest of the season.
