Fairfield girls open season at Demon Indoor
IOWA CITY ? Upwards of 25 schools were represented at Tuesday?s Demon Indoor meet on the campus of the University of Iowa for the first track competition of the year.
Fairfield was one of those teams shaking off the rust against a highly talented field that included two of the four team state champions from a year ago ? Solon and Iowa City West.

IOWA CITY ? Upwards of 25 schools were represented at Tuesday?s Demon Indoor meet on the campus of the University of Iowa for the first track competition of the year.
Fairfield was one of those teams shaking off the rust against a highly talented field that included two of the four team state champions from a year ago ? Solon and Iowa City West.
After one of the best freshman seasons in Fairfield history last year, sophomore Sydney Howard was the top finisher for the Trojans placing fourth in the 60-meter dash. Howard qualified eighth with a time of 7.95 before running an 8.01 to place fourth out of 17 runners in the finals.
Cedar Rapids Xavier?s Molly Breitbach tied Howard for fourth as Iowa City West?s McKennan Cronbaugh won the event in 7.68.
The Trojans? all-sophomore quartet of Tori Keltner, Jessica Lamb, Hannah Sobaski and Holly Kerr ran the 4x800 in 11:11 to place 19th out of 39 teams.
Freshman Hanna Greiner was one of eight high jumpers to tie for 17th place after clearing the bar at 4-feet, 8-inches.
Fairfield has two more indoor meets coming up this month including next Thursday?s trip to the Central Indoor in Pella. The outdoor season will begin March 31 at the Mount Pleasant Relays.
The Trojan boys? team will run the Demon Indoor Friday.
