FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield girls soccer team is still searching for its first win of the season.
The Trojans battled with Southeast Conference foe Keokuk on Thursday, with the hope to get a notch in the win column.
It wasn’t meant to be though as Fairfield was downed by Keokuk 5-0 in the conference clash.
The Trojans struggled to contain the Chiefs offensive attack, while also struggling to get their own offense rolling.
Keokuk busted the game open in the first half, as it put three on the board through the opening 40 minutes.
Fairfield was able to hunker down defensively in the second, giving up just a pair, but offensively the Trojans just couldn’t find a rhythm.
The Trojans best shot at a goal came with just 11 minutes to go.
Fairfield’s Savannah Hollander was awarded a free kick just outside the box.
Her shot was placed perfectly into the back of the net, but the side judge lifted his flag and called offside, hence negating the goal.
With the loss, Fairfield drops to 0-7 on the season.
The Trojans will take on Fort Madison on Monday.
