FAIRFIELD - To say it's an uphill climb for the Fairfield football team this weekend would be an understatement. The Trojans are in a rare situation where they will be looking for their first win against a team that hasn't lost.
The Trojans have scored just six points in two games since losing starting running back Leone Gichure to injury. Fairfield lost Gichure in their double-overtime loss to Ft. Madison at homecoming.
Fairfield hasn't been able to get a consistent passing game going this season. The Trojans have had three players combine for just four touchdowns and 22 interceptions.
That's could be a major problem against a Solon team that has given up 20 or less points in all of its eight games this season.
On the offensive side of the bal, the Spartans sport a phenominal passing game. Solon's Cam Miller has passed for 1,553 yards, 18 touchdowns and three interceptions. Receiver A.J. Coons has 659 yards and seven touchdowns receiving, and Jace Andregg has 368 yards and five scores.
The Solon rushing game isn't bad either. Seamus Poynton has ran for 476 yards and 10 touchdowns this year. Miller has run for 461 yards and seven scores.
The Spartans have scored 35 points or more in each of their four district wins. The Fairfield defense had only given up an average of 32.5 points per game through their first two district games but have given up 61 and 71 points respectively in their last two contests.
