FAIRFIELD — Fairfield soccer was able to hold on for its third victory of the season on Tuesday night with a 3-2 win over Danville/NL.
The Trojans were very efficient in the first half, scoring all three of their goals in the first 40 minute period.
Binh Truong scored a pair and Lane Stever added another.
Fairfield kept the pressure up offensively against the Bears, rocketing off 25 shots on the night. Eleven of those shot were heading toward the net.
The Bears continued to plug away despite giving up the trio of scores in the first. They scored one themselves in the first period to make it 3-1 at the half.
In the second, the Bears took additional aggression offensively to try and get back into it. Through the first 20 minutes of the half they created a number of opportunities, but couldn’t finish.
While Fairfield didn’t score in the second it did just enough defensively to get the job done.
The Bears ripped one more goal into the back of the net late, but time wasn’t on their side as the Trojans walked away with the win.
Along with the goal scorer’s for Fairfield, Cormac Van Pelt and Ben Strickland each had an assist.
Henry Swan finished with four saves in the win.
The Trojans improve to 3-3-2 with the victory.
