FAIRFIELD — Fairfield volleyball kicked off its season on Thursday night with a triangular featuring the Warriors of WACO and the Rockets of Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.
For EBF, it was also its first matches of the season, while WACO (1-4) entered off its own home tournament.
The host Trojans (1-1) picked up one victory on the night, a 2-0 win over WACO, 25-16 and 25-12.
While both area squads played well, they each had trouble against the No. 2 ranked Rockets (2-0).
WACO gave EBF a nice run early on, but it was all for naught once the Rockets found their groove.
EBF downed the Warriors 25-10 in the first set and closed it out with an even more impressive 25-5 second set.
The same held true in the Trojans match against the Rockets. EBF rattled off a 25-13 win in the opener, while following up with a 25-12 victory in the second.
