The Fairfield boys? JV squad opened the season with a 57-48 loss to Mount Pleasant Friday in Fairfield.
Matt Carr led the Trojans with 13 points, mostly from behind the 3-point line, while Joseph Hietpas scored seven points and recorded four assists, two steals and two blocks. Jordan Whitney, Landon Gamrath and Kyle Weirup added six points apiece. Keagan Drish scored four points to go along with three steals.
Fairfield 54, Ottumwa 38
The Trojans bounced back from Friday?s opening-season loss with a double-digit win over Ottumwa Saturday.
Fairfield won 54-38 to improve to 1-1 on the season, and three Trojans finished the game with at least 10 points.
Gamrath tallied 12 points and eight boards, Hietpas had 11 points and six assists and Vince Horras added another 10 points. Carr scored eight, Weirup tallied six points and Whitney added five.
