Fairfield JV, ninth-graders play Albia

The Fairfield ninth-grade boys? basketball team picked up its first win of the season Tuesday, topping Albia 53-44.

Nick Jackson led the team with 14 points, and Cody Craff had 11 points and five rebounds. Narendra Martin scored eight points, while Tanner Deao and Logan Fleeman added seven points each. Cody White scored four points, Drew Grunwald had two and James Kyle added one.

Fairfield, now 1-3, is hosting Washington on Monday.

JV team loses close battle

Sophomore Vincent Horras scored 18 points but the Fairfield JV team lost to Albia 51-49 Tuesday.

Joseph Hietpas added 12 points and Matt Carr had 11. Both Alex Shier and Kyle Weirup scored four points. Landon Gamrath came down with eight boards, and John Hammon tallied two steals and two assists.

Next up for the JV squad is a game against Washington today.
