Fairfield JV plays two doubles
The Fairfield JV softball team split a doubleheader vs. Central Lee Tuesday night, winning game two 9-4 after dropping the opener 11-7.
In the nightcap, Jolea Burkhart was the winning pitcher and helped the five-hit offense by going 1-3. Bryanna Gridley hit an inside-the-park home run while Harley Cook, McKenna Ledger and Laura Jackson also tallied hits.

The Fairfield JV softball team split a doubleheader vs. Central Lee Tuesday night, winning game two 9-4 after dropping the opener 11-7.
In the nightcap, Jolea Burkhart was the winning pitcher and helped the five-hit offense by going 1-3. Bryanna Gridley hit an inside-the-park home run while Harley Cook, McKenna Ledger and Laura Jackson also tallied hits.
Addison Thornton, Miranda Metcalf and Cheyann Laux each hit singles in the Trojans? loss to open the day. Katrina Jackson and Gridley were in the pitcher?s circle for the Trojans.
Fairfield was also at home to play Eddyville-Blakesburg Wednesday afternoon.
The Rockets won game one 11-1 and snuck away with game two 6-5. Laura Jackson had the lone hit in the opener.
In the second game, Burkhart was the tough-luck loser after giving up eight hits and striking out two. Ledger finished the game 3-3 at the plate, Baylee Bowman was 2-3 and Cook, Laura Jackson and Jasmine Elmore added singles.
The JV squad is off for the weekend before heading to play Ottumwa Tuesday.
